Easter activities for kids : Bunny Small World Play
We have shared a bunch of Easter activities for kids. You can go to our Easter category page to take a look. Today we are sharing a small world play – bunny world.
Small World play is such a fun play idea and it is great in that you can make it as generic or as detailed as you want it to be. This my first making anything as detailed ( hey this one right here is an elaborate one in my books) as this one. However I think every once in a while making a special something just for your kids is awesome. Hence our ” Spring Surprise Bunny World In a box”

This Easter activity was supposed to be a surprise! I initially planned on making the bunny box all by myself and reveal it to the kiddos as a Spring/Easter surpirse. Didn’t quite pan out for multiple reasons. I couldn’t work on it for more than 10 minutes a day, didn’t hide it properly etc. Still, it turned out for the better because we had a good time doing a collaborative project – 10 minutes/day.
First it all started with a flat box.
I covered it up with blue and green paper. { Tip: I think a rainbow on the sky part would look awesome} We decorated it with flower stickers and bugs. [ Fine motor]
Those polka dot things you see, yeah those were supposed to be roads and pathways. , I used a dress box cut up into smaller rectangles glued on to the flat box using simple white glue. Remember to hold down each piece for at least 10-15 seconds to make sure they don’t flop down. With the roads in place, it was just about adding the details.
I love it when special projects turn into fun, engaging kids activities – in this case small world play. We love art and crafts. But when your creations turn into engaging play or turn into super fun activities for kids, then it is a winner in books, right?
My preschooler had a grand time just adding all her knick knacks into her bunny world box. We started off adding the lead stars, chocolate and vanilla bunny, her other tiny toys (God! why do little adore teeny tiny toys? They are so hard to pick-up and keep track)
With kids activities like this, the creations can take any form. Imaginations at work! The kids added their Lego gates, grass and other tiny toys.
Fairies in the bunny world
I also made small Easter baskets with bottle caps, pipe cleaners and pom poms. I freely used jellybeans because they are spiced jellybeans and these kids would not touch anything remotely spicy.
We covered the pom poms, buttons etc with Easter grass for the bunnies to find them.
I would say of all the kids activities we have done, small world and sensory box play are by far the most engaging. The box world is so fun and has so many possibilities I guess we will do more of these themed box play.
